Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) is a global initiative that helps trade and professional membership organizations accelerate climate action across the industries and professions they represent. CAFA provides tailored, practical resources, events, and shared learning to support associations in leading proactive climate strategies and progressing towards net zero. Its tools are designed both to help associations drive internal change and to better engage and support their member organizations. CAFA’s certified Net Zero Association emissions foot printing, measurement, and reporting service is specifically built for membership bodies seeking structured, credible climate reporting. The organization offers a clear pathway for associations aiming to become certified net zero leaders in their sectors.
Role Description
This is a full-time Sustainability Executive role based in the United Kingdom, offered on a hybrid basis with a mix of office and work-from-home arrangements. The Sustainability Executive will support the development and delivery of climate action programs for membership associations, including research, analysis, and preparation of net zero pathways and resources.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Coordinating emissions foot printing and reporting activities
- Drafting guidance materials and toolkits
- Contributing to events, workshops, and shared learning initiatives
- Engaging with association stakeholders
- Capturing their needs
- Helping tailor CAFA services to different sectors
The Sustainability Executive will collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure high-quality outputs and measurable impact for client associations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability, climate change, and net zero concepts, ideally with experience applying them in a business, nonprofit, or association context.
- Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to interpret climate-related data, emissions information, and sector-specific trends.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing reports, guidance documents, or educational materials for diverse audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, including working with membership organizations, partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Organizational and project coordination skills, such as managing timelines, tracking deliverables, and supporting multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Comfort with hybrid working arrangements, including use of digital collaboration tools and capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Relevant academic background (e.g., environmental science, sustainability, public policy, business, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in or familiarity with trade or professional associations, membership models, or sector-wide initiatives is an advantage.
