Sustainability Lead – Major Industrial Construction Projects
UK wide projects | Up to £65,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Are you passionate about driving sustainability across major construction projects?
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading main contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering some of the UK's and Europe's largest and most complex construction schemes. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Sustainability Lead to join the team.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a flagship development while becoming part of a business delivering high-profile projects including Data Centres, Advanced Manufacturing Facilities, Distribution Centres, Logistics Hubs, and other major industrial developments across the UK and Europe.
For those travelling from outside the local area, accommodation and travel expenses will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates nationwide.
The Role
Working closely with the project and operational teams, you will lead the sustainability agenda throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring environmental and sustainability objectives are achieved while supporting the wider business strategy.

Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of project sustainability objectives and environmental commitments.
- Advising project teams on sustainability best practice and legislative compliance.
- Monitoring and reporting against sustainability KPIs and client requirements.
- Supporting carbon reduction initiatives, waste management, and resource efficiency.
- Promoting environmental awareness through coaching and engagement across project teams.
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners on sustainability initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Supporting environmental audits and ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and company management systems.
About You
Applicants are likely to have:
- Previous experience in a Sustainability, Environmental, or ESG role within the construction industry.
- Experience working for a main contractor or major construction business.
- Knowledge of sustainability legislation, environmental management systems, and reporting requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to influence teams across large projects.
