Location: Bridgwater Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Package
We are partnering with a well-established international construction and project delivery organisation that operates across highly regulated and technically demanding sectors, including data centres, advanced manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, and industrial developments.
Known for delivering large-scale projects to the highest standards, the business has built a reputation for innovation, operational excellence, and long-term client partnerships. Due to continued growth, they are seeking to appoint a Sustainability Manager to help drive environmental performance and sustainability objectives across a diverse project portfolio.
The Role
As Sustainability Manager, you will take ownership of sustainability and ESG performance across multiple live projects, supporting the business in achieving its environmental commitments and long-term sustainability goals.
Working closely with operational teams, designers, clients, and supply chain partners, you will champion sustainable practices throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered responsibly while maintaining commercial and programme objectives.
This role offers the opportunity to influence both project-level and business-wide sustainability initiatives within a progressive and growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainability and ESG strategies across a range of construction projects
- Establish, track, and report on sustainability performance metrics and environmental objectives
- Support project teams in embedding sustainable solutions throughout design, procurement, and delivery stages
- Provide expert guidance on sustainability standards, certifications, and best practices (e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL)
- Review environmental documentation, sustainability plans, and project performance data
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to promote and achieve sustainability targets
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, company procedures, and management systems, including ISO14001
- Gather, analyse, and present sustainability data to support reporting requirements and improvement initiatives
- Promote low-carbon construction techniques, responsible sourcing, and innovative environmental solutions
- Support the development of sustainability awareness and capability across project teams
About You
Must-have Requirements
- Degree qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within a sustainability-focused role in construction or the built environment
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability principles, and ESG frameworks
- Experience working with sustainability assessment and certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED, or equivalent
- Knowledge of carbon reduction strategies, whole-life carbon assessments, and environmental impact processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Proven experience delivering sustainability initiatives within a fast-paced project environment

Desirable
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as IEMA, IES, or equivalent
- Internal or external auditing experience relating to ISO14001 and/or ISO9001
- Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC)
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting junior sustainability professionals
