We are seeking a sustainability professional with expertise in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and programme delivery to join our team.

Job Role, Responsibilities & Relationships
The Sustainability Officer provides operational delivery, coordination, and administrative support for Seafish’s sustainability and responsible sourcing programmes, ensuring effective implementation of project activities and stakeholder engagement.
Role Overview
- Reports to the Sustainability Analyst
- Supports sustainability initiative delivery through coordination, dataset management, communication support, and workplan implementation
Key Work Programmes Supported:
- Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT)
- User coordination, training logistics, preparation of guidance materials, and ongoing industry communications
- Sustainability in commercial fishing practices
- Meeting coordination, administrative support, and secretariat functions for workshops and stakeholder groups
- Sustainability data collection & reporting
- Collaboration on Greening Government Commitments (GGC) reporting and compliance activities
Key Accountabilities
Under Seafish’s core "Resilient Supply Chains" work pillar:
- Coordinates responsible sourcing and sustainability activities
- Manages delivery records, workplans and project timelines
- Collates sustainability sector information for reporting and analysis
- Logistics and administrative support for seafood business engagement (scheduled meetings, workshops, and communications)
- Support staff with materials preparation, stakeholder lists, and follow-ups
- Assist in producing sustainability communications, guidance, and industry updates
Programme-Specific Breakdown (Task Allocation)
1. Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability Programme Support (40%)
- Day-to-day administrative and coordination across responsible sourcing projects
- Event organisation
- Stakeholder meetings, workshops, webinars, and training sessions
- Maintains contact databases, stakeholder records, and project documentation
- Preparation of briefing papers, presentations, reports, guidance, and case studies
- Clear filtering of stakeholder enquiries (non-technical queries handled; escalates others)
- Supports internal and external communications in responsible sourcing initiatives
- Project progress tracking (timelines, deliverables, and action follow-ups)

2. Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT) Support (35%)
- User support and coordination for seafood businesses using SCEPT
- Training delivery, onboarding, and user guidance material development
- Spearheads emissions & supply chain data collection, organisation, and quality checks
- Manages communications with external software providers and partners
- Maintains feedback, technical issue, and development request records
- Case study and communications support for industry adoption
- Preparation of non-technical outputs, insights, and tool summaries
3. Corporate Sustainability and Reporting Support (25%)
- Data collection and organisation for internal sustainability metrics (travel, waste, energy, emissions)
- Supports national reporting processes (e.g., quarterly and annual GGC submissions)
- Internal engagement coordination for sustainability activities across Seafish teams
- Contributes to internal communication and awareness campaigns on sustainability performance

- Efficiently handles stakeholder queries and escalates complex technical issues
- Ensures outputs are polished, accurate, and impactful

Critical Working Relationships
- Supplies staff in fishing, aquaculture, processing, and retail
- Collaborates with sustainability specialists, researchers, and technical experts
- Engages government departments, regulators, and partners
- Interfaces internally across sustainability, industry engagement, and corporate reporting teams
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
Essential
✔ A degree/diploma (or equivalent) in sustainability, environmental management, fisheries science, energy systems, geography, or a related field ✔ Experience in project, programme, or administrative support in a professional setting ✔ Attributions to coordinating meetings, events, or stakeholder activities ✔ Proficiency with data, spreadsheets, and information management tools ✔ Strong written/verbal communication skills (reports, presentations, guidance materials) ✔ Experience in external stakeholder or customer support ✔ Exemplary task and priority management skills ✔ Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
Advantageous
✔ Familiarity with SDGs, net-zero, carbon reporting, or environmental regulations ✔ Interest in sustainability, responsible sourcing, or food/seafood supply chains ✔ Hands-on experience supporting environmental data reporting or research projects ✔ Experience with skills development, awareness, or training initiatives ✔ Background with SharePoint or collaborative data-sharing platforms ✔ Prior roles in the seafood, food production, environmental, or public sectors
