About the Role

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of engineering and consultancy projects, typically up to £2M in value. You will manage project scope, programme, risks, resources, information flow and financial performance whilst supporting client satisfaction and technical excellence. Working under the direction of a Senior Project Manager and / or Project Principal, you will coordinate project teams and ensure delivery is aligned with contractual requirements, project objectives and HDR quality management processes.

About You

We are seeking someone with strong organisation, communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills, who has the ability to co-ordinate across disciplines and manage competing priorities in a delivery environment. You should be comfortable supporting meeting management (actions/decisions) and information control (transmittals/registers), whilst being able to maintain a positive, professional attitude with a collaborative working style, and have a commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of projects, typically up to £2M in value.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules and resource plans.
  • Coordinate project teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out).
  • Be responsible for any project assignment regardless of size, visibility, number of disciplines, technical complexity or number of staff.
  • Develop and maintain clear project scopes, assumptions and deliverables.
  • Facilitate project risk identification and assessment.
  • Monitor project budgets, resource utilisation and forecasts.
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with HDR Integrated Management Systems and project procedures and implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project delivery teams including Associate Directors, Associates, Senior Consultants, Consultants and Graduates.
  • Manage project closeout activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years related experience; minimum 2 years project management experience.
  • Experience working within a consultancy is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or equivalent, or working towards chartered status.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint; MS Project desirable.
