About Midland Mencap

Midland Mencap is a charity that advocates for accessible and inclusive services, striving to improve the quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs. It also campaigns to make services better for families and carers.

### Purpose of this Volunteer Role

Our iconic annual Sutton Park Challenge Run takes place on Sunday 4 October.

We are seeking friendly, enthusiastic volunteers for approximately 4 hours on this day to:

  • Marshal the race routes
  • Patrol the car park
  • Greet competitors and supporters
  • Assist with setup at the event’s start
  • Help clear away and dismantle everything at the end

Marshals are one of the most vital roles at any event — ensuring fundraising goals are hit, while simultaneously making the day safe, enjoyable, and special for everyone involved.

This event is designed to be highly accessible and inclusive. Whether a participant chooses to run, walk, or be pushed in a wheelchair, everyone can challenge themselves in a way that suits them.

A small event with a big heart, this year’s race will feature three timed races (1k, 5k, and 10k). Competitors ask for sponsorship to take part, and everyone’s contributions will help Midland Mencap support those with disabilities and their families.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
