Citi is seeking a Senior Vice President, Custody Sanctions Product Management

Citi is seeking a Senior Vice President, Custody Sanctions Product Management to take a hands-on leadership role in executing and operationalising the sanctions product strategy across Citi's global Custody business. Sitting within the Custody Sanctions Product Management team and reporting directly to the Director, you will translate strategic intent into operational reality — designing and testing controls, managing governance deliverables, optimising screening processes, and engaging with clients and senior stakeholders on complex sanctions matters. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned sanctions and product professional with deep knowledge of sanctions compliance within securities services or a custodian bank environment who is ready to own delivery at pace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operationalisation of the sanctions product strategy across Citi's Custody business, embedding sanctions requirements into project design and ensuring architecture and technology solutions are policy compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose.
  • Design and implement sanctions controls in response to identified gaps, new product launches, regulatory changes, or policy updates, maintaining a clear and up-to-date inventory of controls mapped to relevant risks and obligations.
  • Assess the effectiveness of existing sanctions controls and lead targeted remediation of deficiencies, coordinating with Technology and Operations teams to deliver sustainable, commercially balanced fixes.
  • Manage the resolution of sanctions issues and Corrective Action Plans end to end, defining detailed requirements, coordinating cross-functional implementation, tracking progress, and escalating emerging risks in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain key governance documents — including Sanctions Product Risk Assessments and risk exceptions — ensuring they accurately reflect current product design, operational processes, and client impact.
  • Monitor and analyse key screening metrics across volume, accuracy, and efficiency to identify process improvement opportunities and inform product prioritisation decisions.
  • Represent Citi Custody as a sanctions product expert in client discussions and due diligence meetings, supporting clients through complex transactions with a sanctions nexus, including intricate trade and asset movements.
  • Author and deliver Custody-focused sanctions training materials in response to policy or regulatory developments, reinforcing a strong culture of sanctions compliance across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
