Responsibilities

  • Execution of platform underwriting
    • Underwrite in accordance with global product standards, best practices, and risk appetite framework
  • Servicing the business
    • Submission management, quoting, negotiations
    • Determine when to loop in global product heads
  • Monitor portfolio / AvE
  • Support global product heads in
    • Quarterly reporting
    • Analysis of portfolio
    • Messages to quarterly meetings
  • Team Management
    • People management – directing daily activities, staff planning, hiring process
    • PMP Process – goals, professional development, salary / bonus admin, in coordination with global product heads
    • Manage platform meetings to ensure coordination within the UW team and across functions
    • Ensure underwriters make the right connections to global product heads as necessary
  • Engagement with non-underwriting functions
    • Regular engagement with platform support functions to ensure good coordination with underwriting – ops, finance, claims, reserving, legal, etc.
  • Business Development
    • Communicate platform underwriting appetite to the market
    • Develop strategic broker and client relationships within platform underwriting appetite
  • Strategy
    • Contribute to global strategy process

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • A college or university degree
  • Typically a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the (re)insurance business
  • Developed senior client and broker relationships within the casualty reinsurance and insurance industry
  • Understanding of casualty portfolio management practices
  • Strong team management capabilities
  • Excellent and proven ability to work with, design and build complex risk systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good understanding of design of reinsurance and risk transfer mechanisms
  • Travel required
