Company Description

GetSetSwim is a family-focused swim school committed to making swimming a positive, calm, and enjoyable experience for children and parents. The company offers warm pools, small groups, and expert coaches in beautifully designed spaces, prioritizing fun, structure, and care over pressure.

Founded by Claire Harrison, who has over 25 years of experience building trusted swim schools, GetSetSwim now supports a community of more than 8,000 families. The school provides private, shared, and small-group lessons for all ages and abilities, from Parent & Baby classes to Adult Coaching. Its mission is to give learners the confidence, safety, and freedom that come from being able to swim independently.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Swim Instructor role based in London. The Swim Instructor will deliver high-quality swimming lessons to children and adults of varying ages and ability levels, using GetSetSwim’s structured, fun, and supportive teaching approach.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Planning and leading lessons
  • Monitoring swimmer progress
  • Providing clear feedback to learners and families
  • Maintaining a calm and safe pool environment
  • Performing basic poolside safety checks
  • Collaborating with other instructors
  • Supporting the welcoming, community-focused atmosphere of the swim school

Instructors are expected to uphold best practices in water safety while helping swimmers build confidence and enjoyment in the water.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Swim Instruction and Swim Lessons, with experience teaching varied age groups and abilities.
  • Solid Swimming and Aquatics skills, including excellent personal technique and understanding of stroke development.
  • Lifeguarding or equivalent water safety skills, with up-to-date certifications or willingness to obtain them.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children, adults, and families.
  • Skills in classroom and poolside management, including patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate nervous or new swimmers.

Highly Beneficial Qualifications

  • Recognized swim instructor certifications (e.g., ASA/Swim England or equivalent)
  • First aid and CPR training

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience working in a swim school, sports coaching, or child-focused education environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to collaborate positively within a team-focused environment.
