Role: Swim Teacher

About the Role

We’re looking for swim teachers to deliver swimming lessons to customers of all ages and abilities, ensuring they feel supported and achieve their goals at King Alfred Leisure Centre.

Swimming is not just about fitness—it’s about inclusivity, joy, and progress. Whether it’s a beginner taking their first strokes or a seasoned swimmer perfecting their technique, our instructors make every lesson meaningful and engaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality swim lessons to children and adults, adapting techniques to meet individual needs.
  • Train participants safely and effectively, ensuring regular progression through lesson plans.
  • Provide constructive, encouraging feedback to pupils and communicate their progress to parents/guardians.
  • Supervise the pool and surrounding areas, prioritising safety, hygiene, and behavioural discipline.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain a pleasant, motivating, and professional learning environment.
  • Equally valued! Whether you’ve got prior experience or are starting your first job, we’ll support your growth.

Requirements

  • A Level 2 swimming teaching qualification (e.g., Swim England TeamTeach, ASCT Swimming Teacher, TOPSwim Qualification).
  • Experience teaching swimming (either professionally or informally) not required—we’ll equip you with all you need.
  • Strong communication skills, with a genuine desire to work closely with customers of all ages.
  • Enhanced DBS check (mandatory for safeguarding and trust protocols).
  • Previously employed or currently working is welcome, including those with diverse backgrounds we value mixing perspectives.
  • Understanding that safe supervision and engagement are critical to running smooth and exciting swim lessons.
