Swimming Teacher Casual, Quarry Leisure Centre, SY1 1RU Salary: £13–£16.98 per hour (dependent on qualifications)
About the Role
Shropshire Community Leisure Trust inspires active, healthier lifestyles and welcomes everyone to its safe, clean, and friendly sports and leisure facilities. Through fungi, inclusive lessons and top-level programmes, the Trust fosters not just physical development but also life skills—many of whom progress to competitive and national swimming.
Located at Quarry Leisure Centre (SY1 1RU), Oswestry & Market Drayton, you’ll deliver safe, fun, and progressive swimming lessons across age groups, from babies to pre-schoolers and onwards. The role isn’t just rewarding in terms of helping others; it’s flexible, career-focused, and backed by ongoing training.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality swimming lessons aligned with the Swim England learn-to-swim framework
- Foster enjoyment, confidence, and skills in all swimmers through inclusive teaching methods
- Engage enthusiastically with diverse learners, families, and older groups
- Provide essential safeguarding and safeguard activities and environments
- Represent the Trust with an approachable, customer-first mindset

Requirements
Essential
- STA Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching – Baby and Pre-School Swimming (non-negotiable)
Desirable (or Trainable)
- RLSS UK NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification)
- RLSS UK NRASTC (National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers)
- STA Safety Award for Teachers

Additional
- A passion for sports and customer service, bighearted enthusiasm for community support
- Must undergo a DBS check as part of the application process
