About the Role
We’re seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Swimming Teacher to join our team. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment shaping lives by encouraging physical activity and growth through swimming. Your passion for teaching, combined with outstanding instructional skills, will inspire others to flourish through water-based challenges.
Your role will include:
- Delivering high-quality swimming lessons aligned with the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. -unning dedicated swimmer development stages adapted to suit our community’s needs. -Acting as a go-to coach who motivates and connects swim groups. -Working as a team with our lively community to create the next generation of confident water enthusiasts. -Continually collaborating with senior staff to enhance services and access our training opportunities.
We’ll wholly support your progression in this role. Qualifications such as UKCC Level 2 are essential, while qualifications like the NPLQ or NRASTC are highly advantageous. If you’re eager, we’ll offer full backing for you to secure them. You’ll speed along your career here, with opportunities open to become a Swimming Co-ordinator or even a Contract Swimming Development Manager.
Responsibilities
Teaching and Coaching:
- Lead group and one-to-one swimming lessons for all ages.
- Banish nervousness, build confidence and inspire dedication through innovative teaching methods.
- Trouble-shoot complex queries, quickly personalise instruction to match individual needs.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development to maintain teaching standards.
Customer Service & Community Engagement:
- Build rapport with families and participants, ensuring lessons are enjoyable and effective.
- Operate a friendly approach to welcome guests and keep your community engaged.
- Be adaptable when working flexible shifts and alongside colleagues as a team.
Business Growth and Welfare:
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives that enhance swimming programs.
- Proactively seek new ways to serve broader social outcomes.
- Champion a culture of inclusion and courage among colleagues and participants.

Requirements
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- A strong passion for teaching without ever losing wonder at its joy.
- Patience, adaptability, discretion and empathy when working with a wide or difficult range of learners.
- A genuine desire to see people reach their potential, no matter their starting point.
- Expertise or significant experience in delivering swimming lessons and showing customers how to adapt to new challenges.
- The ability to motivate and inspire, boosting confidence in learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Qualifications:
- A minimum UKCC Level 2 qualification in Teaching Swimming (essential).
- NPLQ or NRASTC would be advantageous, though apprenticeships are welcomed (we can support you).
- Well-versed attitude towards continuing professional development.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Physical stamina to manage long periods of standing or walking around a pool.
- Commitment to safeguarding principles — all our colleagues have a duty to uphold the highest safety standards.
