Switchboard Operator

Telephonist – Blackpool Teaching Hospital

The post will support the provision of a Comprehensive Telecommunications Service at Blackpool Hospitals.

About the Role

  • The Telephonist will be based at the Blackpool Teaching Hospital.
  • This role operates under a 24-hour/365-day shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Essential to be a lone worker during evening and night shifts.
  • Flexibility is key—shifts may change abruptly due to absences or holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to an extensive telecommunications service for Blackpool Hospitals.
  • Participate in a rotational shift pattern, adapting to working across weekends, public holidays, and evenings/night shifts.
  • Telephone operators assist with daily communications, ensuring seamless service for both Trusted members and the general public.
  • Collaborate within a strong team environment, despite occasional lone-work commitments.
