SWS / PTS Quality Advisor (Energy - Leeds)
About the Role
Murphy is recruiting for a SWS / PTS Quality Advisor to support Energy operations at the Leeds facility. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day fabrication and site welding activities, ensuring quality assurance, compliance, and adherence to industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
The SWS/PTS Quality Advisor will:
- Provide quality assurance and compliance support for Specialist Welding Services (SWS) and Pipeline Testing Services (PTS), ensuring welding and pressure testing activities comply with:
- Approved procedures
- Client requirements
- Industry standards
- Maintain robust inspection regimes, documentation control, and continuous improvement processes for high-quality, traceable fabrication and site-based works.
Daily Duties & Tasks
- Plan and schedule Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for welding/pressure testing, aligning with project programmes and client deliverables.
- Ensure all quality documentation (ITPs, WPS/PQRs, test packs, certification) meets project/client expectations.
- Monitor forward audit schedules, focusing on key SWS/PTS quality risks, including:
- Welding qualifications
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Pressure testing readiness
- Support quality assurance processes across SWS/PTS operations, ensuring compliance with:
- Murphy’s internal systems
- Industry standards
- Collaborate with Engineering and Planning teams to embed quality requirements into project execution.
- Track and report updates on codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Manage and escalate Quality Non-Conformances, conducting root cause analyses.
- Plan and conduct internal/audit requests, tracking and closing out findings.
- Ensure digitised quality systems provide full traceability for welding and pressure testing.
- Generate regular quality reports, including:
- Weekly and monthly submissions
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Support project start-up, ensuring early establishment of:
- Inspection processes
- Calibration registers
- System readiness
- Ensure compliance of all quality documentation for project handover.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with welding, pressure testing, and fabrication.
- Work closely with Engineering, QC, and operational teams to deliver compliant welding/pressure testing activities.
- Engage with clients and third-party inspectors, facilitating:
- Clarity in quality communication
- Documentation compliance
- Guide operational teams and supervisors on quality standards, fostering a "right-first-time" culture.
- Assist Group Quality teams and external auditors in audits, assurance, and issue resolution.

Key Requirements
- Industry knowledge of standards such as:
- ISO 9001
- ISO 3834
- Oil & Gas sector specifications (or equivalent)
- (Advantageous) A relevant engineering or technical qualification, such as:
- Welding Engineering
- Quality Assurance
- Process Safety Management
- Technical experience in:
- Quality management (fabrication/welding/pressure testing)
- Pipeline or energy infrastructure projects (preferred)
- Operational expertise in:
- Welting processes (WPS/PQR)
- Weld inspection requirements
- Non-destructive testing methods (NDT)
- Pressure testing methodologies and system assurance
- Ability to translate technical compliance into practical execution.
