London – Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineer
Role Overview
The Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineer is responsible for maintaining the performance, reliability, and safety of a diverse property portfolio through a proactive, engineering-led approach.
Working as part of the Symphony Engineering team, you’ll use engineering expertise, asset intelligence, and digital technologies to identify and resolve issues before they escalate into operational failures. The role focuses on:
- Improving asset reliability
- Reducing operational risk
- Delivering high engineering standards across the estate
You’ll collaborate with Bureau Engineers, Technical Support teams, and specialist supply chain partners to make informed engineering decisions based on asset condition, operational risk, and real-time building data. Success is measured by: ✔ Preventing failures ✔ Maximising asset performance ✔ Driving continuous improvement
All Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineers must complete the Symphony Academy training programme and maintain annual accreditation.
We are seeking 4 full-time employees for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and minor works across mechanical, electrical, and building systems, adhering to engineering best practice and contractual requirements.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective solutions where possible.
- Conduct statutory inspections, testing, and maintenance in line with current legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
- Complete work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption, maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Utilise risk-based maintenance plans, asset intelligence, and historical data to maximise engineering effectiveness.
- Capture engineering observations, identify recurring faults, poor-performing assets, and opportunities for improvement. Escalate operational risks and recommend remedial works to enhance long-term asset reliability.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and asset performance using CAFM systems, mobile technology, and digital engineering tools.

Customer Service
- Build positive relationships with clients, site teams, and colleagues.
- Communicate clearly on engineering activities, risks, and recommendations.
- Take ownership of issues, driving them to resolution with excellent customer service.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Fully comply with all Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and site procedures.
- Work within Safe Systems of Work, including:
- Permit to Work
- Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
- Risk assessment processes
- Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring statutory compliance activities are completed accurately and on time.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- NVQ Level 3 City & Guilds in:
- Carpentry & Joinery
- Plastering
- Painting & Decorating
- Multi-skilled competencies in building services
- Relevant technical apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience maintaining commercial & retail building services systems
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
Desirable
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (where applicable)
- F-Gas Certification
- IPAF (Merchant Navy)
- PASMA (Mobile Access)
- Water Hygiene Awareness
- Building Management System (BMS) awareness
- Unvented G3 Certification
- Manufacturer training on key plant
- Experience in operationally sensitive environments

Technical Experience Required
Maintenance expertise across:
- Mechanical systems: HVAC, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, chilled/hot water, ventilation
- Electrical systems: LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, UPS, fault-finding
- Plumbing & water systems
- Building fabric maintenance & basic M&E repairs
- Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls
- Statutory compliance (permits, safe isolation)
- CAFM systems, mobile technology, digital reporting
AI & Continuous Learning
We look for candidates who:
- Actively integrate AI into daily work
- Demonstrate curiosity about new technologies
- Take ownership for improving processes, thinking, and delivery
