Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineer
Midlands
Role Overview
The Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineer is responsible for maintaining the performance, reliability and safety of a diverse property portfolio through a proactive, engineering-led approach.
Working as part of the Symphony Engineering team, you'll use engineering expertise, asset intelligence and digital technologies to identify and resolve issues before they become operational failures. The role focuses on improving asset reliability, reducing operational risk and delivering high engineering standards across the estate.
You'll collaborate with Bureau Engineers, Technical Support teams and specialist supply chain partners to make informed engineering decisions based on asset condition, operational risk and real-time building data. Success is measured by preventing failures, improving asset performance and driving continuous improvement, rather than simply completing work orders.
All Symphony Ring-Fenced Engineers must complete the Symphony Academy training programme and maintain annual accreditation.
We are searching for 3 full time employees for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor works across mechanical, electrical and building systems in line with engineering best practice and contractual requirements.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement permanent corrective solutions wherever possible.
- Carry out statutory inspections, testing and maintenance in line with current legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
- Complete all work safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption, maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Use risk-based maintenance plans, asset intelligence and maintenance history to maximise engineering effectiveness.
- Capture engineering observations, identify recurring faults, poor-performing assets and opportunities for improvement, escalating operational risks and recommending remedial works to improve long-term asset reliability.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and asset performance using CAFM systems, mobile technology and digital engineering tools.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
