Symphony Technical Manager
Technical Manager – London (Hybrid)
Location: London (Hybrid – office-based with flexible/remote options)
We're seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead our engineering team across diverse property assets. In this senior role, you’ll drive maintenance programmes, ensure compliance and operational safety, and nurture high-performing teams. You’ll work collaboratively with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders to optimise asset performance, mitigate risks, and deliver an exceptional experience to end-users.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery & Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day technical service delivery across multiple sites
- Lead and manage site teams and specialist contractors/suppliers
- Uphold Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance and operational KPIs
- Act as the on-site technical authority, providing expert guidance on building services
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
- Coordinate permits-to-work, KITs (Job Sheets), and duty duties
- Ensure competent personnel execute works safely
- Guide teams through risk assessment, method statements, and statutory compliance
- Maintain high engineering standards and technical assurance
Performance Management
- Monitor and escalate daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics:
- Fault rates and resolution times
- PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) compliance
- Asset performance trends
- Review BMS/automation alerts and manage reactive & planned activities
- Pursue root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions -Drive a data-driven approach to problem-solving
Audit & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct regular technical and workforce audits, verifying:
- Compliance with SOPs and safety protocols
- Equipment, stock, and workflow efficiency
- Support QA and Health & Safety audit processes
- Provide clients with transparency through reporting
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve quality

Stock & Asset Management
- Align stock control with supply chain logistics
- Perform stock audits and usage reporting liaison with procurement
- Collaborate with site teams to maintain optimal inventory levels
Systems & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure accurate statutory maintenance logs
- Monitor digital compliance tools (e.g., permit uploads, certifications)
- Escalate and resolve non-conformances with stakeholders
Key Skills & Experience
Technical & Engineering Expertise
- Proven track record in building services engineering (electrical, mechanical, HVAC or multi-engineering disciplines)
- Good working knowledge of:
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) processes
- Ability to interpret technical data, fault reports, and asset dashboards
Leadership & People Management
- 5+ years in a technical site or engineering management role, supervising teams
- Strong coaching and development skills for engineers/technicians
- Experience leading third-party supplier relationships with clear commercial accountability
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Deep understanding of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
- Experience with internal QMS/ISO processes along with permits-to-work, risk assessments & method statements
- IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification (desirable)
Analytical & Data-Driven Approach
- Ability to track KPIs (e.g., fault resolution, service-level compliance) and trend-analysis
- Experience building databased reports (Excel/CAFM systems)
Stakeholder & Communication
- Engaging communicator, effectively liaising with high-level asset directors, clients, contractors, and non-engineering audiences
- Strong SLA/key performance report-writing skills
Digital Proficiency
- Comfortable using digital compliance systems and CAFM tools (Concerto, or similar platforms)
- Experience with data dashboards and web-based reporting interfaces

Working Arrangements
