Purpose of the Role
AEGIS London is currently seeking a Syndicate Finance Manager on a fixed term basis (circa 15 months) to cover a period of maternity leave. The Finance Syndicate team is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of statutory returns to Lloyd’s and other regulatory reporting (including Solvency II) of AEGIS London. The Syndicate Finance Manager will contribute to process enhancement, systems development and other finance projects, and assist with the development of more junior team members alongside BAU activities.
Duties And Accountabilities
- Own and oversee the preparation and review of Lloyd’s Regulatory returns including: QMA, QMB, SBF, US Situs, Cad Situs, NAIC, TRIA/FIO, Standard Formula, QSR, QAD, ASR, AAD, QF1 and AF1, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with Lloyd’s requirements
- Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end Syndicate reporting timetable, including stakeholder inputs, review cycles and formal sign-off processes
- Own the delivery and review of Syndicate Financial Statements, ensuring high-quality output and compliance with regulatory and accounting standards
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, acting as the primary point of contact, ensuring effective coordination of audit activity and timely provision of supporting evidence
- Lead the preparation and presentation of financial and underwriting commentary to senior management and governance committees (including the Assets & Liability Committee subgroup)
- Support in the Lloyd’s capital setting process, including coordination of inputs and oversight of the annual Syndicate distribution process
- Drive delivery of Lloyd’s reporting rationalisation and process improvement initiatives, ensuring efficiencies and consistency in outputs
- Maintain accountability for an effective control environment, ensuring appropriate processes, documentation and governance are in place and regularly reviewed
- Act as a central coordination point across finance, actuarial, MI, underwriting and risk teams, ensuring alignment, clear communication and timely delivery of outputs
- Contribute to and lead wider finance and syndicate-level projects, transformation initiatives and strategic priorities
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to team members, ensuring delivery to deadlines and development of technical capability

Skills, Knowledge And Experience
The successful candidate will have/be:
- Fully qualified accountant with recognised body (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
- Extensive experience within the Lloyd’s of London market, with a strong understanding of syndicate reporting and regulatory requirements
- Significant experience in Lloyd’s Core Market Returns, Market Data Collections and overseas reporting systems
- Strong technical knowledge of insurance accounting and regulatory reporting
- Advanced IT skills, especially Excel; knowledge of Workday, Phinsys and Clearwater desirable
- Proven ability to lead, review and challenge financial and regulatory outputs
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels, including senior management
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across a wide stakeholder group
- Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across functions
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Experience of team leadership or mentoring desirable
