Syndicates Financial Controller
Join us as the Syndicate Financial Controller
How you will create an impact
This is an exciting opportunity to be Financial Controller of Talbot’s managed syndicates at Lloyd’s and lead an established Syndicate Finance team. The purpose of this role is to:
- Lead the Syndicate Finance team
- Ensure that the Syndicate reporting (group and regulatory) is completed accurately, on time, and efficiently
- Oversee financial accounting processes
Key Responsibilities
Lloyd’s Financial Reporting and Controls
- Leading Lloyd’s financial reporting for Talbot managed syndicates
Key Deliverables
- US GAAP reporting to AIG:
- SAP ledger close
- UK GAAP Lloyd’s reporting:
- Annual and interim Financial Statements
- Solvency submissions
- International returns, including:
- SITUS
- NAIC
- TRIA
- Syndicate Tax returns
- Other required Lloyd’s returns:
- Flash
- QMB
- RRQ
- RRA
- Management of the Syndicate Finance team
- Coordination with internal and external stakeholders for Syndicate financial reporting, including:
- External auditors
- Support and drive Talbot Syndicate Finance objectives, including:
- Close and control enhancements
- Owner of Syndicate Finance related SOX controls
- Data Governance journeys
- Source Owner for financial reporting
- Key Stakeholder for finance systems, including:
- Talisman Data Warehouse
- Attendance at applicable Committees:
- Audit
- Reserve Committees

Requirements
- At least five years’ post-qualification experience in the insurance industry:
- Experience of Lloyd’s required
- Leading a finance team essential
- Good knowledge of:
- US and UK GAAP, Solvency UK, Lloyd’s reporting rules
- Financial processes and controls
- Lloyd’s accounting and processes
- Strong:
- Team management skills
- Communication and stakeholder management skills
- Analytical skills
- IT skills, including:
- General Ledgers/Data warehouses
- Microsoft applications
