Sysplex Developers & Testers
We are currently hiring experienced Sysplex Developers & Testers for a critical mainframe upgrade project within a large enterprise environment in the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-impact modernization and infrastructure upgrade initiative involving IBM Mainframe and Sysplex technologies.
Position: Sysplex Developers & Testers Location: Basildon, UK Employment Type: Contract
About the Role A Sysplex Developer & Tester is a highly specialized mainframe professional responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting applications and system components operating within an IBM Sysplex environment.
The role is commonly found in banking, financial services, insurance, and other enterprise-scale organizations where high availability, workload balancing, and large-scale transaction processing are critical.

Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and support applications running in IBM Sysplex environments Perform system integration, testing, and validation during upgrade activities Work closely with infrastructure, middleware, and application support teams Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and system-level issues Support mainframe modernization and upgrade initiatives Execute regression testing and production validation Ensure system stability, scalability, and high availability Participate in incident analysis and root cause investigation Maintain technical documentation and deployment procedures

Required Skills & Experience Strong experience with IBM Mainframe technologies Hands-on expertise in Sysplex environments Experience with z/OS, JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF Knowledge of CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM Experience in mainframe testing and production support Understanding of workload balancing and high-availability architecture Experience with upgrade/migration projects preferred Strong debugging and analytical skills Ability to work in enterprise-scale environments
Preferred Experience Banking or financial services domain exposure Experience in large-scale production environments Knowledge of automation and monitoring tools Exposure to performance tuning and system optimization
