System Administrator
Circa £38,692 dependent on skills and experience
Permanent, full time (37 hours) with flexibility for part time working

We are looking for a System Administrator to join our Analytical Services team!
You will provide a timely, agile, and accurate service, collaborating with our partners to support the Analytical Services function. You’ll support the establishment of long-term sustainable operations through efficiency, lean methodology and innovative thinking.
Regarded as a credible source of advice and expertise in specialist fields, you’ll foster a culture of innovation, forward thinking, positive challenge and support through our functions.
A key part of this role will be to pro-actively manage the development and integration of Labware LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). You’ll understand laboratory and sampling processes and support Labware LIMS routine use in Analytical Services by developing and maintaining close working links with key suppliers and our internal customers.
Key responsibilities
- Balance the demands of users and technical knowledge to deliver a high-quality support service to the business which adheres to ISO 17025 quality standards and meets the needs of our Regulators
- Assess current and future LIMS requirements along with Analytical Lab services head and managers
- Work with the laboratory and sampling teams to help identify the traceable / critical steps needed for each method
- Ensure the Labware protocols and processes are adequately controlled and documented to comply with the document control requirements
- Drive continual improvement of lab processes through best use of Labware LIMS to ensure quality and efficiency improvements
- Responsible for business continuity and risk mitigation for the role e.g. all of the day to day labware administration duties are captured
- Manage user access and control, ensuring impartiality requirement for the laboratory are adhered to
- Manage quality control charts configurations
- Ensure all changes are managed through the Quality Change Process
- Ensure timely communications to interested parties regarding system updates

What does it take to be successful?
- Experience of working within a scientific laboratory and an understanding of laboratory processes
- Comfortable making decisions following agreed principles
- A good understanding of the processes within a laboratory environment and associated Quality Assurance processes and regulatory requirements
- Excellent people and communication skills with experience of working with 3rd party external providers
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Process based approach with continual improvement
