Systems Design Engineer

Salary: Up to £57,000 DOE + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Location: Stevenage
Working Pattern: 4-5 days per week on-site

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Design Engineer to join a leading UK defence organisation working on the ongoing evolution of advanced missile systems. This role offers the chance to contribute to the development of cutting-edge defence technology, supporting software upgrades, system performance improvements and future capability enhancements across a highly complex engineering environment.

Working as part of a collaborative systems engineering team, you'll play a key role throughout the engineering lifecycle, helping to define system requirements, develop architectures and support verification activities to ensure solutions meet demanding customer and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from requirements through to verification and certification.
  • Develop and maintain system architectures, interface definitions and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver software and system enhancements.
  • Support system performance analysis and technical investigations using engineering models and data.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical decision-making throughout programme delivery.
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams, customers and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in Systems Engineering within a complex engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of areas such as requirements management, systems architecture, verification or validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in developing technical expertise and contributing to continuous improvement.
