Join Hafod as a System Development & Application Manager!
Based in Cardiff with hybrid working, this is an exciting opportunity to lead our Systems & Applications team, driving digital transformation, business system improvements, and technology innovation across the organisation. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient, and user-focused solutions that enhance services for colleagues and customers.

The role will be based at St Hilary Court, Cardiff. However, as a service, we operate a hybrid working model, combining remote working with time spent at our head office and other Hafod locations, depending on business needs.
We actively encourage our teams and leaders to spend time working alongside colleagues across the organisation in person, enabling strong relationships, greater visibility, and high levels of support for the services we provide.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and develop Hafod's Systems & Applications team, overseeing the full lifecycle of business systems from procurement and implementation through to ongoing support, enhancement, and retirement.
- Ensure business-critical systems remain secure, resilient, and available, managing upgrades, supplier relationships, service performance, and incident resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance systems, digital processes, workflows, and integrations that increase operational efficiency and service quality.
- Partner with senior leaders, system owners, and business teams to deliver technology solutions that align with organisational priorities and future strategic goals.
- Manage contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring value for money, service quality, and compliance with agreed service levels and organisational requirements.

What you’ll bring
We're looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking technology professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
- Experience leading IT systems, applications, or software development teams within a complex organisational environment.
- Strong knowledge of business systems, SaaS applications, system development lifecycles, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
- Proven experience delivering technology improvements, managing suppliers, and balancing operational priorities with long-term strategic objectives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering user-focused solutions.
Ideally, you'll be educated to degree level in an IT-related discipline and have experience working with management information systems, CRM platforms, and cloud-based applications.
