Systems Engineer
Permanent (must have or be able to obtain SC Clearance)
Redhill, Surrey
£45,000 to £50,000 per year
Pension, Bonus, Training and Development, Private Healthcare, etc.
Skills and Experience:
- Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate and follow up corrective actions
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls
- Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL)
- Asterisk/VoIP platforms
- Windows Server and VMware intermediate level experience
- Hardware and/or software systems development and design experience
- Programming knowledge – Scripting (Bash, Perl)
- Working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls and traffic shaping experience.
- To act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and applications, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry applicable to my client’s specific markets.
- To produce and maintain detailed technical documentation relating to the new solutions/developments and to work with the Product Management team on ensuring that any new developments are rolled out effectively across the organization.

The Opportunity:
My client based are a satellite communications provider working within the MOD sector who are looking to hire a Systems Engineer on a permanent basis. In this role you will be working with Bespoke hardware/software developments to provide customers with the ability to manage their remote site traffic and user experience more effectively. You will also meet with external customers to design on-board vessel and land networks for fleets and remote sites, including bespoke designs, virtualisation, high availability, traffic prioritisation, integration into existing infrastructure and ongoing support. You will also be finding off the shelf products and developing in-house products for design and integration to best suit the needs of the business and their clients.
