QinetiQ's UK Defence business focuses on addressing evolving threats through expertise in Air, Land, and Maritime domains, with a particular emphasis on weapons systems. This Maritime domain opportunity specialises in:
Maritime platforms, including Training, Tactics, Test and Evaluation Transformation Maritime Combat System Integration Underwater Threat Representation and Signatures Implementation of Systems Engineering principles across engineering lifecycles Customer engagement for new propositions development Trials planning and execution
About the Role
Our Systems Engineers are recognised for delivering high-quality, independent technical advice across military and commercial acquisition programmes. We value proactive, forward-thinking individuals passionate about technological innovation and interested in tackling challenges today while shaping tomorrow.
Operating within a structured Maritime Graduate Scheme, you’ll develop expertise in systems engineering for the UK’s defence sector.
Key Responsibilities
As part of a Systems Engineering team, your roles will include:
- Supporting terminated systems engineering projects, spanning diverse domains for internal and external stakeholders, under senior guidance
- Engaging with stakeholder communities to gather material and define requirements
- Providing technical design support within scope, guided by professional standards
- Collaborating across project teams to mitigate issues such as delays, lack of information, etc.
- Practical project management, including task coordination and account ownership

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Current progress or completion of degree (2:1+ equivalent) in engineering, computer science, physics, or related disciplines (typical focus: Aerospace, Mechanical, Electronic, Systems, Computer Engineering)
- Commitment to UK military-related projects
- Readiness for onsite mobility (UK relocated deployment) as part of development
- Benchmarks for report writing proficiency
