System Engineer - Land CEMA (All Levels)

System Engineer (Land Cyber & Electromagnetic Activities) – Defence Technology

Want to help shape the future of defence in the electromagnetic battlespace?

We are recruiting talented and motivated System Engineers (at all levels) to join Leonardo’s growing Land Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) business. In this role, you’ll contribute to pioneering defence capabilities for UK and export customers, while benefiting from flexible working arrangements that balance professional demands with personal wellbeing.

Your Impact

This exciting opportunity places you at the forefront of defence innovation, directly influencing next-generation systems that enhance operational effectiveness in complex, contested electromagnetic environments.

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, your key responsibilities include:

  • Defining, developing, and delivering land-based defence systems, including:
    • Land Electronic Warfare
    • Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS)
    • Counter-Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RC-IED) equipment
  • Collaborating with customers, partners, and stakeholders across the full system lifecycle—from requirements definition to implementation, integration, verification, and in-service support.
  • Applications of technical expertise to enable military advantage in the spectrum domain while ensuring secure protection of friendly forces.

Your work will contribute directly to the UK’s most advanced land-based defence solutions.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer in a professional setting (or equivalent research-level experience).
  • A relevant Honours degree in a science or engineering discipline (or comparable experience).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
