System Engineer - Land CEMA (All Levels)
Want to help shape the future of defence in the electromagnetic battlespace?
We are looking for talented and motivated System Engineers (at all levels) to join our growing Land Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) business.
About the Role
At Leonardo, you’ll contribute to the development of innovative, cutting-edge defence capabilities for UK and export customers. Enjoy flexible working arrangements that support a healthy balance between business needs and individual well-being.
Your impact: As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you’ll play a key role in defining, developing, and delivering next-generation defence systems. Collaborating with customers, partners, and stakeholders, your expertise will span the full system lifecycle—from requirements definition and solution development through to integration, verification, and in-service support.
You will directly contribute to the UK’s most advanced land-based defence capabilities, including:
- Land Electronic Warfare
- Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS)
- Next-generation Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RC-IED) equipment and solutions
These systems enable military users to exploit the electromagnetic spectrum, providing operational advantage while protecting friendly forces.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for proven experience as a Systems Engineer or advanced academic research in this field. An Honours degree in science-based disciplines or equivalent is highly desirable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
