Belcan is seeking a Systems Engineer in Portsmouth!
Contract: 6 months | IR35: inside
Pay Rate: Up to £60/ph
Hybrid working (4 days onsite per week)
Are you an experienced Systems Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge satellite communication solutions? Our client is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join their Defence & Space division in Portsmouth, working across innovative projects spanning land, sea, and air domains.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to play a key role across the full system lifecycle – from concept development through to operational deployment and in-service support.

Key Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and leading various elements of the systems engineering life-cycle. You will:
- Identify stakeholders
- Capture and validate requirements
- Define solution boundaries
- Design system architectures
- Conduct modelling and performance analysis
- Lead trade-off decisions to select optimal solutions
- Manage interface requirements
- Drive verification and validation activities
- Support system integration and operational evaluation throughout the product life-cycle
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline (as recognised by IET)
- Strong experience across systems engineering lifecycle activities (requirements, architecture, verification & validation)
- Ability to apply structured systems engineering methodologies
- Experience analysing and translating stakeholder needs into technical solutions
- Strong understanding of system design, integration, and lifecycle management
- Ability to obtain or hold SC clearance

Desirable:
- Knowledge of military standards
- Experience with military satellite communications systems
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
