Position Summary

We are hiring a Systems Administrator to support our expanding client base in Miami. This role involves onsite and remote client support, requiring strong interaction with end-users across diverse computing environments.

Successful candidates will excel in a fast-paced, collaborative, and results-driven engineering team. We seek individuals with technical proficiency, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to learn and engage deeply in all aspects of IT.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document unfamiliar client/server network environments, assessing the most efficient resolution path for issues.
  • Perform rapid diagnostics of workstation/server-level incidents, consistently identifying root causes.
  • Handle diverse computing environments across various business sectors.
  • Develop and document client standards based on Thrive’s best practices, ensuring consistency across the client base.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate server-level and network-level issues independently.
  • Exhibit a deep technical understanding to interpret escalation notes and resolve complex problems efficiently.
  • Provide technical consulting to clients on specific applications, Thrive’s best practices, and computing processes.
  • Offer escalated support, mentoring, and leadership to junior engineers within the department.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in client environments and record them in Thrive’s central information/documentation system.
  • Address recurring issues in remote service centers, proposing permanent resolutions via structured problem management.
  • Continuously review security best practices in client environments, suggesting and implementing proactive risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads to implement and refine standards, improving service delivery.
  • Troubleshoot incidents related to:
    • Mail Application/Office 365 issues
    • Firewall issues, including:
      • SSLVPN
      • Site-to-Site VPN connectivity
      • Access rules
    • Backup/Disaster Recovery solutions, ensuring data retention and uptime
    • Client/Server connectivity issues (per SOP)
    • Data restoration (file-level and company-wide)
    • Remote access incidents (Citrix and Terminal Services)
    • Any escalations from Systems Engineers

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Problem-solving expertise: Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and coordinate workloads.
  • Experience: 6+ years in desktop or server support.
  • Self-motivation & adaptability: Capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Network Architecture: Experience designing LAN/WAN setups, including Windows Servers.
  • Hardware & Configuration: Skilled in troubleshooting network and hardware issues, including server hardware.
  • Microsoft Proficiency: Essential knowledge of Microsoft Server and Workstation Technologies.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication, with the ability to translate technical details for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer support experience.
  • Process Adherence: Ability to follow documented processes while clarifying ambiguities with management.
  • Availability: Willingness to work after-hours or on a call rotation as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications:
    • CompTIA Net+
    • MCSE / MCITP: Server Administrator (or higher)
    • VCA/VCP certifications
