Systems Associate (Graduate/Entry-level opportunity)
Systems Associate (IC1) – Hyperexponential (hx)
Executive Message from Tom Clark
Hi, I'm Tom Clark – CIO, CISO, and hx employee #9. I'm the executive in charge of our Systems & Security function. I joined in 2020 at seed stage and have been here through Series A, Series B, and everything in between—watching us grow from nine people to 250+. I’m six years in, and I’ve never been more excited about what’s ahead.
Fun fact: I didn’t come from insurance. I came from TV and media—if you’ve ever used BBC iPlayer, ITVX, or listened to Capital Radio, I helped make them. I ended up in insurance and became, perhaps unexpectedly, one of the industry’s biggest cheerleaders.
I know what you’re thinking: insurance isn’t cool. I can change your mind in five minutes—or your money back. And the best bit? What we’re building with hxOS is cooler still. We take a product-centric, customer-centric view to internal IT—the same rigour and craft you’d bring to any customer-facing product. That’s what makes this role different, and it’s what I’m most excited about.
About Hyperexponential (hx)
We’re building the AI-powered platform that enables the world’s most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry: which risks to take and how to price them. These decisions shape real-world outcomes—whether rockets successfully launch, autonomous vehicles scale, or communities recover after major storms.
Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We’re changing that. Our platform combines data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision. We help them:
- Move faster
- Act smarter
- Take on more risk with confidence
Our Growth & Vision
- Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures
- Already trusted by nearly 60 of the world’s largest insurers (zero churn, billions in premiums flowing through hx)
- Evolved from a single product to a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every stage of pricing and underwriting
- Built the world’s first domain-specific AI peer programmer for insurance (imagine GitHub Copilot with an actuarial science PhD)
- Leading the charge in agentic workflows to reinvent the industry
About the Systems & Security (SYSSEC) Team
hxOS is our internal operating system—the platform every employee relies on for devices, applications, security, collaboration, and AI tools. The SYSSEC team builds, runs, and evolves it. It’s never finished—that’s the point.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
