EARS plc is seeking an experienced and motivated Systems & Bench Engineer to join our expanding engineering team based in London.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced communications engineer to join one of the UK's leading two-way radio specialists, working on high-profile communication systems across the UK. The Role
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in VHF/UHF conventional radio systems, MPT1327 and digital communication systems.
You will possess in-depth knowledge of Motorola MOTOTRBO IP-based systems, including:
- IP Site Connect
- Capacity Plus
- Linked Capacity Plus
- TRBOnet Enterprise
- TRBOnet Watch
- RDAC
Experience in communal site engineering, cavity and hybrid transmitter combining, RF infrastructure and IP networking is essential. Knowledge of VPN configuration, network infrastructure and system integration would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, configure and commission Motorola communication systems.
- Create and maintain codeplugs for portable radios, mobile radios and repeaters.
- Install, configure and support TRBOnet Enterprise and TRBOnet Enterprise Plus.
- Carry out component-level fault diagnosis and repair of portable and mobile radio equipment.
- Perform workshop testing, commissioning and quality control.
- Undertake field installations, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding throughout the UK when required.
- Accurately record repairs and equipment movements using the Insphire and EARS databases.
- Design, programme and configure professional communication systems.
- Provide first-class technical support to customers.
- Assist with commissioning, system optimisation and final acceptance testing.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams to deliver projects on time and to the highest standard.

The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- A minimum of five years' proven experience within the professional two-way radio communications industry.
- Demonstrable experience designing, commissioning and supporting Motorola MOTOTRBO systems in live customer environments.
- Excellent knowledge of Motorola MOTOTRBO systems.
- Experience programming radios, repeaters and IP-based communication systems.
- Strong RF diagnostic and component-level fault-finding skills.
- Excellent understanding of RF infrastructure and IP networking.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a professional engineering team.
- A full UK driving licence.
- An HND, Degree or equivalent engineering qualification, or significant relevant industry experience.

This position is intended for engineers with genuine experience in professional two-way radio communications.
Applications from alarm, CCTV, IT or cellular engineers will only be considered where applicants can demonstrate substantial experience within the professional two-way radio industry or possess significant amateur radio experience supported by relevant commercial engineering expertise.
