Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer role is responsible for coordination, support, management, and execution of L2 Level proactive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure that services provided to customers are continuously available and performing to Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels.

Security clearance is a requirement for this position.


Key Responsibilities

L1 Fault Management & Incident Support:

  • Perform L1 Fault Management Level Assurance Support Activities
  • Handle L1 Fault Management Level Incident Management
  • Oversee L1-FM level operation and maintenance (O&M) of data & system delivery solutions
  • Support the second-level team in achieving data & system node availability targets
  • Follow well-defined system support guidelines while operating within given protocols
  • Prioritise faults to meet SLA/WLA requirements
  • Conduct L1-FM level investigation of alarms & faults related to system/network issues
  • Ensure accurate working methodology
  • Coordinate with all teams during emergencies and, if required, work with stakeholders (MSIP)

Technical & Operational Support:

  • Handle alarms, trouble tickets for L1-FM fault investigations
  • Engage in internal discussions to improve network performance and provide recommendations
  • Contribute to optimising network performance in collaboration with stakeholders

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (or related field)
  • Industry experience in IP/Data/Systems/ISP/Enterprise solutions
  • 2-6 years of practical knowledge in the relevant field

Technical Skill Requirements:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to handle customer issues effectively
  • Strong working knowledge of *nix systems, RedHat Linux, and related technologies (e.g. satellite systems)
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP and standard protocol suites (e.g. ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, DNS, HTTP, NTP)
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex server networks with a focus on ISP technologies (DNS, RADIUS, NTP, DHCP)
  • Proficient experience with multi-vendor server hardware (Oracle, HP, Cisco, NetApp) and Unified/Hyperconverged systems (Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS)
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi/VSAN, KVM
  • Knowledge of network routing/switching protocols and load balancers is advantageous
