Systems Engineer – L2 Level Support (IP/Data/Systems) (M/F)
About the Role
The Systems Engineer role is responsible for the coordination, support, management, and execution of L2 Level proactive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure continuous availability and compliance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels.
⚠️ Security clearance required for this position.
What You Will Do
- L1 Fault Management Level Assurance Support Activities
- Incident Management (L1-FM level)
- Responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M) of data & systems delivery solutions and services.
- Support the 2nd level team in achieving or exceeding data & system network availability targets.
- Troubleshoot alarms, fault tickets, and investigate incident root causes related to system/network issues.
- Prioritise faults to meet SLA/WLA deadlines effectively.
- Ensure adherence to well-defined system support guidelines.
- Coordinate with all teams to resolve emergencies and escalate to stakeholders (MSIP) if necessary.
- Participate in internal discussions to improve overall network performance and provide recommendations.
- Work on proactive and reactive maintenance to minimise service disruptions.

Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2–6 years of relevant IT industry experience in:
- IP, Data, Systems, ISP, or Enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with proactive and reactive incident management.
- Superb interpersonal skills, including handling customer relations (end-users, peers, senior stakeholders).
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- *nix systems, RedHat Linux, and associated technologies (e.g., satellite-based deployments).
- TCP/IP suite and standard protocols (ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, DNS, HTTP, NTP).
- Troubleshooting complex server/network environments, including:
- DNS, RADIUS, NTP, DHCP, IPv4/IPv6.
- Multi-vendor server platforms (e.g., Oracle, HP, Cisco, NetApp, Ubuntu) and Unified/Hyperconverged systems (e.g., Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS).
- Virtualisation technologies (VMWare ESXi/VSAN, KVM, etc.).
- Beneficial knowledge of:
- Network routing/switching protocols, load balancers (e.g., F5, A10), and Lync/SIP technologies.
- Capacity engineering, system optimisation, and real-time troubleshooting.

- Customer-focused mentality – delivering results that meet or exceed expectations.
- Strategic thinking, multi-tasking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Clear communication – ability to deliver reports/feedback tailored to audiences (e.g., peers, senior management, stakeholders).
- Influence and collaboration – driving cross-functional teams (e.g., NOC engineers, MSIP operators) to improve fault ticket quality.
- Organisational adaptability – comfortably managing high-pressure incidents and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
