Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer role is responsible for coordination, support, management, and execution of L2 Level proactive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure that services provided to customers are continuously available and performing to Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels.
This role will require enhanced security clearance.
Responsibilities
- L1-Fault Management Level Assurance Support Activities
- L1-Fault Management Level Incident Management
- Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of data & systems delivery solutions and services at the L1-FM level
- Support the 2nd level team in meeting or exceeding data & system nodes network availability targets
- Work within well-defined system support guidelines
- Prioritise faults to meet SLA/WLA (Workload Level Agreement)
- Conduct L1-FM level investigation of alarms & faults, identifying causes related to system/network problems
- Ensure accurate working methodology
- Coordinate with all teams during emergencies and, if required, coordinate with stakeholders (MSIP)
- Handle alarms, trouble tickets, and conduct L1-FM level investigation of faults/causes related to system/network issues
- Participate in internal discussions to improve overall network performance and provide recommendations

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Background
- Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent
- Strong proficiency in IP/Data/System/ISP/Enterprise domains
Experience & Skills
- 2-6 years of practical knowledge in relevant technical fields
- Exemplary interpersonal skills to interact effectively with end customers
- Excellent technical understanding of *nix systems, particularly RedHat Linux and associated platforms (e.g., satellite solutions)
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and standard protocol suites (e.g., ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, DNS, HTTP, NTP)
- Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting complex server/network environments, with familiarity with ISP technologies such as DNS, RADIUS, NTP, DHCP
- Solid experience with multi-vendor server hardware (e.g., Oracle, HP, Cisco, NetApp) and unified/hyperconverged systems (e.g., Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS)
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies like VMWare ESXi/VSAN, KVM
- Beneficial: understanding of network routing/switching protocols, load balancers

- Ability to influence, persuade, and mobilise internal/external resources to fulfil customer needs
- Highly organised, with strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to deliver clear, concise reports and feedback tailored to various audiences
- Ability to effectively influence NOC teams regarding the quality of fault tickets for field engineer requirements
