Systems Engineering- Managing Consultant
Title: Systems Engineering- Managing Consultant Salary range: £70,000 to £80,000 per annum Location: Bristol, Leatherhead, Glasgow, Manchester, Burton is preferable but would consider any office for the right candidate. Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home. In support of our continued growth and uphold our reputation for trusted delivery to BAE Systems - one of our largest and strategic clients - we are seeking a Systems Engineer – Managing Consultant within the BAE Systems Delivery Portfolio to support the Client Director in the delivery of projects and programmes within the BAE Systems Portfolio Frazer-Nash Consultancy works with BAE Systems in Land, Marine and Air supporting Submarines and Fast Jet programmes. Our engagements have taken many forms including systems engineering transformation, MBSE, specialist engineering support and digital engineering transformation. There are a growing number of opportunities in all areas of our Key Account with BAE Systems, bringing opportunities to work on some of the largest and exciting defence contracts. Our aim is to place Frazer-Nash Consultancy as the partner of choice for these opportunities. As a result, we are a growing team and currently have 70 staff supporting delivery across the portfolio. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership, guiding clients in Systems Engineering best practices and methodologies. Deliver specialist consultancy on systems engineering challenges, digital modelling, and solution architecture Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, define problems, and shape solutions that align with business and operational objectives Develop and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring long-term collaboration and strategic advisory support Manage bids and proposals by providing technically credible, commercially viable solutions Manage systems lifecycle management, overseeing key processes such as requirements engineering, verification & validation, and system integration Facilitate workshops and technical discussions, ensuring alignment between engineering teams and business objectives. Balance technical innovation with commercial strategy, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and deliver business value Provide thought leadership in Systems Engineering, authoring technical reports and sharing best practices across projects Provide technical mentoring to less experienced team members. Required Skills & Experience: A Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline; Significant experience in a Systems Engineering related role; Solid understanding of engineering processes and lifecycles (ISO 15288 etc.) Demonstrated experience delivering technical consultancy to clients, with guidance on engineering decisions and best practices Deep understanding of systems architecture, system integration, and lifecycle management. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering in Cameo, Enterprise Architect or Rhapsody; Experience with Systems Engineering established Requirements Management toolsets (IBM DOORS, DOORS Next etc.), Cameo, Enterprise Architect Rhapsody, etc.); Ability to engage and manage stakeholders, effectively translating technical complexity into actionable solutions. Experience supporting bids and proposals with technically sound, commercially viable approaches. Effective communication and leadership skills, with a strategic mindset towards both engineering and business development Desirable Experience: Solid awareness of emerging technologies and innovation strategies within systems engineering, particularly the use of Artificial Intelligence Experience working in Defence.
