Security Installation Engineer – New Nuclear Build (NNB) at Hinkley Point C, Somerset
About the Role
An exciting permanent, full-time Security Installation Engineer role has been identified within our site-based engineering team at the New Nuclear Build (NNB) at Hinkley Point C, Somerset.
The position operates a 42.5-hour workweek, typically as part of a dedicated engineering team, working with world-class enterprise electronic security systems. This is ideal for experienced candidates or those with a strong foundation in electronic security systems and a passion for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes the following responsibilities:
- Carry out additional installation and commissioning works as directed by team coordinators and/or Senior Site Engineer
- Assist the Design Team in conducting site surveys for additional works
- Accurately collect and record site hardware and software configuration information in conjunction with the CAD Engineer
- Maintain site stock (spare) levels
- Maintain accurate and timely records
- Assist the site-based Health and Safety Lead and Project Director in ensuring audits are carried out for quality procedures
- Collaborate with the Installations Manager and Health & Safety Manager to produce Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and associated documentation to expedite Permits to Work
- Proactively interact with other site-based teams, fostering strong relationships and ensuring smooth information flow to optimise site efficiency
- Work in absolute compliance with all site procedures, adhering to the company’s "Zero Harm to People and the Environment" philosophy
- Undertake any additional tasks as required

Person Specification: What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced candidate with expertise in:
- Core Experience:
- Security installation specialist or Electrical/Data engineer with proficiency in:
- Intruder alarm systems
- Access control systems
- CCTV (including Tanoy, PIDs)
- Intercom systems
- Strong understanding of current BS standards relating to security systems
- Strong familiarity with NSI Standards:
- NCP 104 (CCTV)
- NCP 109 (Access Control)
- Knowledge of PD6662:2017 regulations
- Ability to understand and commission IP devices on Security Systems
- Experience with Analogue and IP-based systems
- Security installation specialist or Electrical/Data engineer with proficiency in:
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience installing and/or servicing broad electronic security systems, including:
- Access Control
- CCTV
- Intruder alarm systems
- Strong broad IT knowledge, including:
- Software installation compatible with Windows Operating Systems
- IP-based systems and fundamental networking principles
- Basic electrical principles, including:
- Measuring resistance, voltage, and current
- Understanding of relays and resistors
- Attention to detail to ensure posed documentation
- Professionalism and reliability under pressure
- Ability to work irregular hours and complement a 24/7 call rota
- Solid 5-year employment history alongside a valid Right to Work in the UK/EU
- Fluent in written and spoken English
