Systems Specialist

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Altrad’s Digital and Business Systems team as a Systems Specialist, supporting the organisation’s continued digital transformation journey.

This is a new role focused on the technical support, configuration, implementation and continuous improvement of key business systems across the organisation. Working across multiple information systems, the role will help ensure that Altrad’s digital platforms are reliable, secure, effective and aligned to operational business needs.

The post holder will support the implementation of new systems, maintain and enhance existing platforms, resolve technical system issues and contribute to the development of low-code applications, workflows and process automation. The role will also work closely with Operational, Engineering, Project Controls and Commercial teams to support the digitisation of business processes, helping teams work more efficiently and make better use of data and technology.

This position offers strong career progression opportunities within the business, with potential future pathways into areas such as project controls, quantity surveying, engineering systems, digital delivery and operational leadership.

The role will involve close collaboration with Clients, Functional Digital Leads, the Business Information Systems Manager, BAU Super Users, BAU Key Users, Group ICT teams and, where required, dedicated system implementation teams. The objective is to ensure Altrad’s systems inspire our people, simplify how we work and support the business in winning and delivering work effectively.

Key Deliverables

Systems Support and Technical Delivery

Provide technical support for core business systems, ensuring issues, service requests and changes are managed effectively. Support the maintenance, configuration and improvement of line-of-business applications. Assist with the administration of systems, databases, servers, environments and associated resources required to deliver reliable business services. Support system upgrades, patches, maintenance activities and technical changes in line with business requirements. Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, escalating where required through appropriate ICT or vendor support channels. Support seamless BAU operation across 1st to 4th line support activities, adapting flexibly to operational demand.

System Implementation and Improvement

Support the implementation of new digital systems across the organisation. Assist with system configuration, testing, data validation, user acceptance testing and deployment activities. Work with stakeholders to understand, document and translate business requirements into practical system solutions. Identify opportunities to improve system performance, usability, data quality and process efficiency. Participate in lessons learned sessions with end users, key users and process owners to ensure systems continue to meet evolving business needs. Support consistent system solutions across the approved Altrad application suite.

Low-Code, Workflow and Automation

Assist in the provision, development and support of low-code applications in line with Group architecture and governance. Build, maintain and improve workflows, forms and process automation. Support the use of platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, Nintex or similar automation tools. Work with Digital Analysts and Functional Leads during resource-intensive phases of project delivery. Help digitise manual or inefficient operational and engineering processes.

Data, Governance and Security

Support good practice in data management, system access, information governance and GDPR compliance. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive business, client, employee or operational data. Support data migration, cleansing and validation activities where required. Help ensure systems are used consistently and securely across the business. Contribute to system documentation, support guides, process maps and technical records.

Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with operational, engineering, project controls, commercial and ICT teams to understand business challenges and system requirements. Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users. Support BAU Super Users and Key Users with system queries, improvements and adoption. Build strong working relationships with internal teams, Group ICT, vendors and implementation partners. Promote an excellence culture through the effective and efficient use of digital systems.

Key Requirements

Strong technical acumen with the ability to analyse complex system issues and develop practical solutions. Experience supporting ICT systems, business applications, technical changes and system implementations. Understanding of system configuration, testing, deployment and change control. Experience supporting databases, servers, application environments or system integrations would be advantageous. Good understanding of GDPR, information security and data management best practice. Experience working with a range of stakeholders, including operational and technical teams. Ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and simple way. Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance ideal system design with immediate business needs. Ability to thrive in a complex, fast-moving and demanding business environment. Knowledge of low-code development and process automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, Nintex or similar. Experience with operational, maintenance, engineering, project controls, commercial or construction-related systems would be beneficial. Background or qualification in Engineering, Construction, Industrial Services, Quantity Surveying, Project Controls, ICT or Business Systems would be advantageous.
