Systems Technicians will be expected to work as part of a team to ensure that the fleet of Edinburgh Tram rolling stock vehicles are maintained to a high standard and are available for passenger service.
Systems Technicians will carry out a variety of tasks during their shift including; preventive maintenance, corrective, overhauls, and repairs. Technicians will be required to work on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Your daily duties will include:
- Carry out fault finding on the vehicles and corrective maintenance in a timely manner to ensure passenger service availability and reliability requirement are achieved.
- Provide technical support to the maintenance team for fault finding and repair activities.
- Provide technical support to the Operational Control Centre on in service faults by giving advice and/or attending vehicle on mainline.
- Monitoring vehicle performance during service using LeadMind fleet management and diagnostic tools and highlight any issues to Team Leader.
- Lead recovery of vehicles during operational incidents as required.
- Stand-in as Team Leader as required.
- Carry out Campaigns, Fleet Checks and Modifications as required in accordance with instructions.
- Assist maintenance team with preventive maintenance and overhauls in accordance to vehicle maintenance instructions.
- Assist Performance Engineer with investigation of systematic defects and modification first article inspections as required.
- Assist Maintenance Engineer with maintenance first article inspection and maintenance auditing as required.
- Deliver maintenance and fault-finding training to the team as required.
- Record accurate information of all tasks carried out onto the computerised maintenance management system.

What salary will you be paid for this role?
As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary in the region of £57,000 per annum.
What will make you successful in this position?
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering
- Post apprenticeship engineering experience
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Available for shift work (including weekends and nights)
