About the Role
We’re looking for a driven Test Engineer to lead simulation-driven testing, automation, and software quality for Hivemind—Shield AI’s flagship autonomy software. Responsibilities

Test Framework Development:
- Design and implement automated regression, integration, and system-level tests to guarantee Hivemind software stability across simulated and real-world scenarios.

Software Quality & Issue Resolution:
- Identify, reproduce, and diagnose software defects—partnering with development teams to implement fixes and refine systems.

Test Planning & Simulation Validation:
- Author test plans, execution protocols, and documentation for autonomy software in simulated environments, ensuring alignment with mission and safety requirements.

Simulation & Test Infrastructure:
- Build and maintain simulation-based test frameworks to validate Hivemind autonomy behavior across platforms.
- Support SoP-Level Testing for simulation environments (including Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and Vehicle-in-the-Loop (VIL)).
- Develop Python-based tools and utilities for automated testing, data analysis, and validation workflows.

Methodology & Metrics:
- Contribute to defining testing methodologies, performance benchmarks, and validation processes used by autonomous system teams.

Infrastructure Scaling & Reliability:
- Assist in scaling and optimizing simulation infrastructure for large-scale autonomous software validation.

CI/CD Integration:
- Work with developers to integrate test coverage into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring continuous validation.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in software testing (with Bachelor’s degree), or 5 years with an Master’s degree, or 4 years with a PhD (or equivalent work experience).
- Proficient in Python (with strong scripting skills).
- Hands-on experience in robotics, small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), or autonomous systems project work.
- Embedded systems or hardware-software integration experience (preferably with microcontrollers/digital signal processing).
- Exceptional analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excited by starting aircraft autonomy and Intelligent Systems for defense use cases.
- Collaboration-focused mindset with experience working with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, and embedded engineers).
- Ability to adapt quickly and embrace continuous learning in a high-growth, fast-paced tech team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing robotic or autonomous software (e.g., perception, navigation, and control systems).
- Basic C++ development for low-latency embedded code.
- Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing environments.
- Insights into machine learning applications for autonomy or AI-driven algorithm validation.
- Background in simulation platform development, distributed testing, or test data management pipelines.
- Process-driven Quality Assurance experience (including test metric tracking, requirement traceability, and validation).
- • Prior work in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical software environments.
