A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Systems Test & Integration Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team, supporting the integration, verification, and validation of advanced digital simulation and experimentation systems. Working across the full product lifecycle, you will play a key role in ensuring complex software-based simulation products are thoroughly tested, validated, and customer-ready for delivery.
This role is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on software testing and systems integration activities within a collaborative engineering environment. Reporting to the Integration & Systems Validation Team Lead, you will work closely with software, systems, and project teams to deliver high-quality, mission-critical simulation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop software test strategies, plans, and specifications based on customer and system requirements.
- Perform functional, integration, and qualification testing of complex software systems.
- Support the integration of software products within simulation and emulation environments.
- Investigate software defects and unexpected system behaviour, identifying root causes and supporting resolution activities.
- Analyse software logs and test data to demonstrate compliance against system requirements.
- Produce detailed test reports and technical documentation to support qualification and certification.
- Provide regular progress updates to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Support software release activities, customer demonstrations, integration events, and engineering trials.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in testing methodologies, automation, and integration processes.
- Collaborate within Agile development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience working on complex systems in a defence, aerospace, or heavily regulated engineering environment.
- An understanding of Verification & Validation (V&V) principles.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development teams.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.
- Familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, JIRA, and IBM DOORS/ETM/ALM.
- Exposure to software test automation.
- Experience analysing software logs and technical data.
- An ISTQB Software Testing qualification or equivalent certification (would be advantageous).
(Alternatively preferred—but mandatory required skills follow below.)
The ideal candidate must have:
- Previous experience in systems integration and software testing of complex engineering systems.
- Strong Python scripting experience.
- Experience developing and executing software test plans and test procedures.
- Experience conducting functional and system-level testing.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate software defects.
- Strong written communication skills, including producing technical reports and test documentation.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
