Field Service Engineer – Cambridge Area (London & Oxford Coverage)

The Role: Field Service Engineer
We’re expanding our service and support operations across the Cambridge area, covering London and Oxford. This dynamic opportunity is for a self-driven, tech-savvy professional who thrives on problem-solving, customer engagement, and seizing sales opportunities alongside service provision.
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll report to the Area Team Leader and work as part of our mobile Field Service team, balancing on-site support with collaborative interactions. It’s a perfect role for someone who wants to climb into the heart of life sciences solutions and leave their mark.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and service Cytiva systems at customer sites across Cambridge, London, and Oxford.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for critical applications in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and research.
- Advise customers on proper equipment use, operation, and care, showcasing expertise in mechanical, electrical, or scientific applications.
- Organize preventive maintenance visits to proactively protect customer operations while minimizing disruptions.
- Leverage strong sales acumen to identify and pursue after-sales opportunities, growing business relationships in a critical sector.
- Collaborate seamlessly with our Sales and Field Service teams, ensuring integration between technical needs and revenue goals.
- Comply with all EHS policies, ensuring safety at every level, including completing required Health & Safety Training.

Ideal Candidate: What You Bring
We’re looking for a Technical Graduate (mechanical, electrical, or scientific) with a keen Problem-Solver’s mindset and a customer-centric drive. You’ll possess:
- Strong technical foundational knowledge and the ability to rapidly execute maintenance tasks with precision on tight schedules.
- A proclivity for continuous improvement—finding practical ways to eliminate inefficiencies and optimize operations.
- Resilience and adaptability, capable of balancing high-demand commercial and service priorities while retaining a flexible approach.
- Natural self-motivation and initiative, with a desire to make the most of unexpected opportunities.
Bonus Experience:
- Exposure to the Research, Pharma, or Biotechnology sectors, supporting evidence-based labs, customer-facing roles, particularly in technical or support functions.
Working Life & Location
This is a hybrid role eligible for remote work, blending on-site visits (including occasional overnight stays) with office/remote collaboration. Located in the greater Cambridge area, with coverage of London & Oxford, this role offers the flexibility to balance site demands with remote productivity.

Requirements for the Role
- Valid passport with unrestricted travel ability to the EU and USA (visa-free access).
- Full UK license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, including the ability to comfortably lift and maneuver equipment in line with EHS guidelines.
- Personal accountability for USPs such as punctuality, meticulous attention to detail, and a ‘no task deferred’ mentality.
