Role: Hairdressing Lecturer

Location: Corby Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 22.2 Hours | 52 Weeks Per Year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Hairdressing Lecturer to join our Hair & Beauty Therapy department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer in Hairdressing, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Delivers high-quality Hairdressing and Barbering programmes across different levels and qualifications, supporting students to achieve success through engaging, inclusive and industry-relevant learning experiences.
  • Assessment & Student Progress – Assesses, verifies and monitors student work in line with awarding body standards, maintaining accurate records, conducting reviews and taking timely action to support achievement and progression.
  • Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance – Develops innovative learning materials, prepares compliant schemes of work, contributes to curriculum enhancement and participates in internal verification and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Employer Engagement & Student Experience – Enhances learning through employer links, work experience opportunities, trips, visits and vocational activities that develop students’ industry knowledge and employability skills.
  • Professional Responsibilities & Compliance – Completes administrative duties, collaborates with colleagues and support staff, maintains up-to-date industry knowledge through CPD, and upholds safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and college standards.

About You

Qualifications & Industry Knowledge – Level 3 Hairdressing qualification (with Barbering desirable), assessor qualification and strong industry experience, supported by up-to-date sector knowledge and commitment to professional development and teaching qualifications.

Teaching & Assessment Experience – Experience teaching and assessing Hairdressing and/or Barbering programmes, with the ability to plan lessons, monitor progress, adapt to diverse learner needs and meet awarding body requirements such as City & Guilds.

Communication & Professional Skills – Strong organisational, interpersonal and influencing skills, able to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and employers while maintaining high standards and professional conduct.

Student Support & Collaborative Working – Committed to student success, equality and diversity, with the ability to build positive relationships, manage behaviour, contribute to team objectives and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
