About the Role
Work alongside a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and modellers at WSP, spanning conceptual design to detailed engineering worldwide.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialized technical expertise in:
- Tailings management facilities
- Heap leach facilities & water impoundments
- Waste rock dump design
- Soil mechanics & improvement methods
- Geosynthetic materials engineering
- Related civil engineering for mining projects
- Supporting project managers in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards by managing your own time, budget, and quality control
- Preparing technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and cost estimates
- Travel opportunities: Assisting clients in resolving engineering challenges and supporting on-site construction of WSP designs. Overnight stays abroad may be required, depending on project/client needs.
- Client relations: Building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients while representing WSP professionally.
- Collaboration: Liaising with the Mining Team—both national and international specialists, including participation in Europe’s Mining Team meetings.
- Mentorship: Providing mentoring and coaching to graduate-level team members.
- Business development: Assisting in technical proposal preparation.
- Ethics & Compliance: Adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct, Equality Policy, and safety protocols, while ensuring all actions align with company values.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
Your ideal background and role fit include:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology, with proven expertise in soil mechanics
- Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations
- Mining and geotechnical experience in mine waste disposal/facilities—critical.
- Analytical & operational skills: Ability to:
- Interpret and monitor data for geotechnical structure design
- Use tools to support clients’ operational needs
- Project & consultancy experience: Demonstrated ability in:
- Client relationship management
- Project team coordination
- Teamwork: Ability to excel in a collaborative civil engineering/mine geoscience environment.
- Willingness to travel: Including UK, global, and remote-site assignments as required.
