About the Role
Our team experiences global opportunities and the chance to curate a career that reflects your ambitions. As part of this multidisciplinary project, you’ll collaborate closely with a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and modellers.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Work as part of a team of engineers, scientists, and modellers, progressing from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering.
- Provide specialised technical input in tailings management facilities, heap leach facilities, water impoundments, waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, and related civil engineering work worldwide.
- Assist in project delivery by managing your involvement—balancing time, budget, and quality control.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and cost estimates.
- Utilise exciting travel opportunities across the UK and internationally to support construction and address engineering challenges.
- Represent WSP on-site while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with Mining Team networks, including participation in Europe’s Mining Team meetings and calls, and globally with colleagues.
- Offer mentoring and coaching to junior team members.
- Assist with business development activities, including proposal preparation.
- Fully adhere to WSP’s values, Code of Conduct, and health and safety policies, raising concerns where necessary.
- Commit to promoting a culture of health and safety, ensuring compliance with WSP standards and raising issues through appropriate channels.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, we seek candidates who can demonstrate:
- A degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on soil mechanics and proven practical expertise.
- Knowledge of national and global design codes and regulations.
- Relevant mining and geotechnical experience, particularly in fields such as mine waste disposal and facilities design.
- The ability to interpret geotechnical data, apply monitoring tools, and design systems to meet client needs.
- Both project management experience and consulting expertise, including client relationship skills and collaborative project execution.
- Experience managing teams and upholding a teamwork-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally and to remote worksites as required.
