Job Description

Waldorf Astoria London - Admiralty Arch is seeking a Tailor/ Seamstress to join the pre-opening team for this highly anticipated new luxury hotel opening later this year.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hospitality leader to join the founding team and help shape the guest experience at this landmark hotel.

Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch will feature 100 elegant rooms and suites and 17,500 sqft of private residences. The hotel will open with two signature restaurants - Coreus by Clare Smyth and Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud - bringing together two of the world’s most celebrated Michelin-starred chefs. Guests will also enjoy a world-class spa, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and a collection of grand event spaces, including a ballroom for up to 320 guests.

Responsibilities

Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

As Tailor/ Seamstress, you play a vital role in maintaining the impeccable presentation of our brand. You are responsible for the alteration and upkeep of team member uniforms and the careful repair of guest garments, ensuring the highest levels of craftsmanship, discretion, and service excellence. This role also requires close collaboration with laundry partners and adherence to established uniform control and deposit procedures.

You will be responsible for performing the following duties to the highest ultra ‑ luxury standards:

  • Inspect uniforms to ensure immaculate cleanliness and condition, completing minor repairs as required
  • Execute precise alterations to ensure optimal fit and presentation for all team members
  • Provide operational support to the laundry function when required
  • Manage wash cycles, folding, and correct storage of linen and uniforms
  • Perform expert repairs on guest garments with the utmost care and confidentiality
  • Deliver a refined valet service experience to guests
  • Liaise professionally with laundry suppliers and dry cleaners to ensure consistent quality standards
  • Support new team members with uniform issuance, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed
  • Administer and control the uniform deposit system in collaboration with the Finance department
  • Monitor and control the distribution and return of uniforms for both new and existing team members
  • Conduct uniform and linen stock takes as required
  • Maintain agreed par stock levels at all times
  • Ensure soiled and damaged linen is correctly segregated, bagged, and disposed of in accordance with policy
  • Maintain impeccable organisation and cleanliness of the linen room and uniform store
  • Proactively report maintenance concerns and health or safety hazards
  • Comply fully with hotel security standards, fire regulations, and all health and safety legislation

A Tailor/ Seamstress serving Hilton’s luxury brands consistently acts in the best interests of our Guests, working collaboratively with fellow Team Members to uphold the highest standards of service and presentation. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following attitudes, behaviours, skills, and values:

  • A consistently positive, professional, and service  orientated attitude
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with Guests and Team Members
  • Proven ability to perform calmly and efficiently in a fast  paced environment
  • Capability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Exceptional sewing craftsmanship, including confident use of industrial sewing machinery
  • A methodical, detail  oriented, and well  organised approach to work
