Talent Acquisition Specialist – Temporary Contract (6 Months) – Abbott
About the Role

This temporary (c.6 months) Talent Acquisition Specialist role is based at our UK HQ in Maidenhead and will focus primarily on commercial and corporate recruiting, with a strong emphasis on sales positions across multiple divisions.
As a key member of our global talent team, you’ll partner with hiring teams and Business HR, driving full-cycle recruiting from requirement definition, sourcing, and interviewing to offer negotiation and hiring.
Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Recruiting & Strategic Sourcing
- Manage the entire recruitment life cycle, leveraging Abbott’s ATS (Workday) and CRM for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
- Develop and execute cost-effective sourcing strategies using:
- Abbott’s careers page, job boards, and social media platforms
- Industry-specific references, virtual job fairs, and referral programmes
- Data-driven insights from the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Ensure structured, competency-based interview processes are consistently applied.
ATS Management & Data-Driven Insights
- Maintain Workday (ATS) and provide analytics/reporting as required.
- Contribute to strategic market research to inform talent engagement.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Proactively identify and resolve recruitment challenges.
- Work closely with:
- First-line hiring managers
- Business HR & Talent Acquisition colleagues
- HR Service Centres & Practice Centres
Key Performance Expectations
- Drive operational hiring success while delivering tangible recruiting outcomes.
- Act as a trusted talent advisor, building credibility with:
- Hiring managers
- Candidates
- Internal TA team
- Develop deep knowledge of Abbott’s business, divisions, and labour market trends.
- Strong direct sourcing skills—select and engage top talent to contribute to hiring targets.
- Ownership & accountability—take responsibility for hiring plans, timelines, and deliverables, making informed decisions.
- Support process innovation and balanced change within recruitment methodologies.
- Data literacy—report and present insights using Abbott systems and MS Office.
- Engage in TA training, seek guidance as needed, and network with senior team members.
- Resilience & adaptability—problem-solve during setbacks, embrace changes in recruitment direction.
- Support region-specific and divisional Talent Acquisition projects.

Requirements
Education & Experience
- University degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven commercial recruiting expertise, preferably combining:
- Agency recruitment and in-house HR roles.
- Emphasis on direct sourcing using networking, digital, and referrals.
Industry Preference
- Experience in healthcare/medical devices is advantageous, particularly with sales roles.

- Candidate Delivery: Produce high-quality sates for hiring managers in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
- Assessment & Interviewing: Evaluate candidates’ technical skills, business acumen, and behavioural fit.
- Interpersonal & Communication: Build professional relationships at all organisational levels (senior leaders, dysfunctional teams, HR).
- Autonomous Work Ethic: Proactively drive excellence in recruitment while ensuring candidate and interviewer satisfaction.
- Team Collaboration: Accountable, professional, and results-driven team player.
