Talent Development & Learning Strategy Lead – Director Level
About the Role
At Great British Energy - Nuclear, we are creating an inclusive and just employment ecosystem by fostering talent development, driving innovation, and securing skills for a sustainable energy future. As a partner with Great British Energy, Kanz is seeking a Talent Development & Learning Strategy Lead to shape and deliver a comprehensive talent development strategy for the organisation.
This is a Director-level business-facing role with a 12-month fixed-term contract, focusing on apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and innovative development initiatives to ensure GBE-N becomes an Employer of Choice.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Delivery
- Formulate and oversee the talent development strategy, ensuring alignment with GBE-N’s vision and strategic objectives --align with ESG and officers in support targets
- Define clear, visible, exciting, and diverse career pathways for employees at all levels
- Design and execute high-impact learning programs including:
- Leadership development
- Technical training
- Soft skills enhancement
Team & Performance Leadership
- Manage a team to deliver flexible learning interventions, adhering to industry standards and legal requirements
- Lead performance improvement and knowledge transfer initiatives
- Conduct and facilitate performance reviews, providing actionable feedback and development plans
- Identify high-potential individuals and tailor development programs to cultivate future leaders

Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Use a mix of methods (classroom, e-learning, blended) to ensure accessibility for all learners
- Evaluate training effectiveness through data-driven analysis, recommending continuous improvements
- Address challenges in talent development and performance management, proactively offering solutions
- Monitor and measure the business impact of training programs on employee performance and organisational success
Stakeholder & External Engagement
- Collaborate with HR, Talent Acquisition and Compensation teams for a seamless employee experience
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders (department heads, managers, frontline staff)
- Represent GBE-N at industry events, conferences, and forums to showcase best practices
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Proven 10+ years of leadership experience in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or HR
- Deep understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design, and performance management
- Experience managing end-to-end learning strategies, including apprenticeship and graduate schemes
- Knowledge of industry learning standards and awareness of Net Zero and energy sector challenges
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), LXP, and emerging platforms

- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, ability to influence across organisational levels

Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Education, or a related discipline
