Tamil Speaking Befriender Volunteer
Voluntary Basis
Harrow, London
Part-Time
We are looking for a Tamil-speaking befriender volunteer to support residents to express themselves in their native language. Volunteering with Creative Support is a great way to enrich the lives of people with support needs while helping our staff to deliver person-centred services.
We are looking for an outgoing, sociable and warm person, who’s also a good listener. As a befriender, you will provide companionship by meeting regularly for a cup of tea and a chat. We ask that you are able to communicate confidently in Tamil in order to engage in conversations together.
You will engage with residents in a friendly manner and develop a strong rapport with the people we support. You will meet residents in their flats and in common areas, encouraging them to engage in conversation and activities. If you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
