Tax Analyst

Tax Analyst at CVS Group

We are seeking a part-qualified Tax Analyst to join our in-house tax team.

About the Role

Join an international in-house tax team of a growing FTSE listed business. This excellent opportunity provides broad exposure across:

  • UK and Australian corporate tax
  • VAT/GST
  • Employment tax
  • Support for business acquisitions and projects

Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely tax reporting, compliance, and support tax and financial accounts teams.


Key Responsibilities

Corporate Tax Compliance

  • Support preparation of UK and Australian corporation tax returns for ~50 group entities (mixture of in-house work and external advisers)
  • Assist with capital allowances claims (asset analysis, external advisor engagement)
  • Prepare quarterly instalment tax calculations, group relief calculations, and Group Payment Arrangement allocations

VAT/GST Compliance

  • Support UK and Australian VAT/GST returns preparation
  • Prepare EC Sales List returns

Employment Tax Compliance

  • Assist with PAYE Settlement Agreement preparation (UK) and equivalent in Australia

Tax Data Analysis

  • Analyze tax data (e.g., VAT recovery fees, tax deductibility costs)
  • Validate, collect, and analyze tax data
  • Prepare tax reconciliations between financial and tax filings
  • Maintain and enhance tax models, trackers, and reporting tools

Tax Projects & Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Tax Manager and Head of Tax on reliefs, claims (e.g., RDEC claims, M&A transactions), and due diligence reviews
  • Support tax authority interactions (UK/Australia), auditors, and external advisors (e.g., managing compliance engagements, responding to audit questions)
  • Handle international tax matters (e.g., Country-by-Country reporting, transfer pricing)
  • Act as a tax contact point for business queries and deliver tax training to finance/operational teams
  • Continuously improve tax processes, controls, and reporting tools

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Partially qualified CTA/ATT or equivalent
  • Previous experience in corporate tax and/or VAT
  • Proficiency in Excel with large datasets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

Desirable Skills (Not Essential)*

  • Experience in an in-house tax role (industry setting)
  • Experience with tax disclosures under IFRS/FRS101
  • Exposure to international tax or a multinational group
  • Experience using Alpha Tax
