Senior SAP S/4HANA Tax Consultant (Indirect & Direct Tax)

Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: Competitive + benefits

About the Role

This is a senior opportunity within a major global ERP transformation programme, supporting the organisation’s move to SAP S/4HANA. You’ll act as the Tax SME across both Indirect and Direct Tax, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and compliant tax processes that underpin a successful S/4 transition. Your work will directly influence solution design, data readiness, testing quality, and cross-functional integration — enabling a future-proof tax landscape aligned to S/4 best practice.

Ensure delivery of solution design and supports end-to-end business processes across Indirect and Direct Taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ownership of SAP S/4HANA tax process design across Indirect & Direct Tax.
  • Requirements gathering, traceability, solution optioning, and recommendation documentation.
  • Deliver SAP configuration and oversee bespoke elements including extensions, integrations, and workflows.
  • Partner with external SIs to ensure deliverables meet programme expectations.
  • Coordinate all testing phases — Unit, SIT, UAT, Regression.
  • Assist all testing stages: Function Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Regression Testing.
  • Support data migration, cutover readiness, and hypercare.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment with Finance, Operations, Marketing, MDM and adjacent workstreams.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation.
  • Contribute to end-user training preparation and delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong hands-on SAP S/4HANA implementation experience across Indirect & Direct Tax.
  • Deep understanding of excise regimes, taxation systems, tax engines, e-invoicing, profit tax deductibility, and integration to FI/MM/SD.
  • Experience working with external consultants/SIs in large-scale ERP programmes.
  • Ability to foresee cross-functional impacts across Operations, Finance, Marketing, MDM.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP testing cycles, methodologies, and technical architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Business Systems, or related field (SAP certification beneficial).
